Bio: gitta pardoel
Gitta Pardoel is born in a small town in the Netherlands. After high school she studied architecture at the Technical university of Delft. After graduation (in architecture, interior, urban and landscape design) and next to here job as assistent designer in an architectural firm, she started studying art in Utrecht. Because as she said, she missed the sensibility in architecture. After all it was the the time of modernism and neue sachlichkeit in architecture and the eye was almighty. She worked several years beside being a designer as artist, making paintings and autonomous works. Paintings about spaces and landscapes and how you perceive them. In 2004 she decided to do a master in art, Architecture and design at the university of Leicester, UK and the art academy of Tilburg, to merge architecture and art more together. Her art and her work as an architect were to far away from each other. Nowadays she makes as an artist works in different media. Some ars spatial, digital, some are 2D in mixed media, pencil and acrylic. She uses a lot of photography in here work, expressive drawings but also new techniques as video and interactive installations. In this varied way she explores the spaces around us, how we perceive spaces, how we are able to do a proposition for a space or try to visualise the specific character of a space. She works beside her own artistic development, in two art academies: as Senior lecturer at the department of Art, Communication and Design at the academy of Performance and Fine Art, Tilburg and as a senior lecturer interactive architecture at the Royal Academy of Art, the Hague. She had expositions in numerous places like the Netherlands, Spain, Germany, Italy, Cuba, Argentina, Marocco, Qatar. She lives in the Hague.
